Efficient Processors, while not as powerful as the specialized traits, gives you a +5% increase to Resources from Jobs. While most people like to have specialized pops, eventually you have an issue where you either have pops with said trait working jobs where the trait is pointless, or you have a slide reel of sub species to cater towards every avenue. This is why some of the Meta Builds revolve around using Machine Intelligence and things like Void Dwellers or Shattered Ring.Ģ) They don't need to specialize. Machine and Mechanical Traits make it so Robots can live practically anywhere with 0 downsides to it. It's even MORE painful if you have three perk slots unlocked and have the tech and everything for the THIRD perk you want, but don't have the prerequisites yet for the SECOND perk, so you can't take either one and have to leave two slots empty. Now that there's mechanics relating to the number of Ascension Perks taken, it's a much more painful choice to leave perk slots empty. This situation has irked me before, but it's taken on new contrast with the 3.3 Unity overhaul. This is in contrast to Hive Minds or non-Gestalt empires, which can take their first perk towards Biological, Psionic, or Synthetic Ascension with only ONE previously-taken perk. As a result, Machine Empires are forced to either take TWO "filler" perks in the first two perk slots, or leave these perk slots open until they have the technologies to unlock perks that have high tech requirements but require fewer previous perks (such as Voidborne or Galactic Wonders). However, both of these perks require two other perks to be taken first. Expansion and Discovery are both good first tradition trees. Interstellar Dominion has become my default first choice though, especially if I have an expansionist leader. There are two perks made specifically for machines: the Synthetic Age perk, which provides two robot trait points and a discount on robomodding projects and the Machine World perk, which unlocks Machine Worlds as a terraforming option. I usually pick Discovery first, and the ascension perk varies depending on empire origin and civics. It makes establishing outposts and planets far less costly, meaning you can branch out to other corners of the galaxy before other empires do.So there's an odd little quirk with Ascension Perks for Machine Intelligences. The more tiers you have access to, the stronger ascension perks become available to your empire. Each time you complete a tradition branch, you unlock an ascension perk, and those perks have tiers. Do they want to expand early? Should they focus on the robot portion of their population? Do they have a hive-mind collective and want to lean on it to continue furthering your ambition against the other empires? You’ll earn ascension perks that increase specific passives for your empire, giving them massive bonuses while you climb the traditions tree. While your empire and citizens grow, advancing in technologies and expand throughout the galaxy, their personality is going to show a bit more. Working your way through Stellaris can take quite a bit of time.
